It’s one of the oldest beauty tricks and I just heard about it, what a shame ! A month ago, I discovered the video of a beauty guru, Sushmita, and her beautiful long hair. She explained that she were using her boiled rice water for her hair rather than wasting it by throwing it. She also said that it was the secret of her beautiful long, healthy hair.
Rice water is the starchy water that remains after soaking or cooking rice. It contains many of the vitamins and minerals contained in rice itself (amino acids, vitamin E, B vitamins, mineral, antioxidants,…).
It can reduce friction between the hair strands as well as improve hair elasticity. It will make your hair smoother, increases shine, the amino acids strengthen the hair at it’s root, helps hair grow and detangles the hair. Moreover, it has inositol, which will regenerate your cels and repair the damaged hair.
It has been used in China, Japan, and southeast Asia for centuries.
Not limited to hair, you can use it for your skincare as well. Due to it’s cooling and soothing effects, it’s an effective ointment to cool off the inflamated skin. It will ease skin irritations and give you soft glowing, clear skin, reduce fine lines and help shrink pores.
How to use it
To enjoy the benefits of rice water, all you have to do is just collect the water you used to rince or cook (or booth) your rice. The water from your boiled rice is further concentrate and even more if you ferment it.
You can use it every day as a toning in your skin care routine, morning and evening. For your hair you can use it as a hair mask before you wash your hair (leave it for 30 minutes) or as a hair rinse (I do both).
Rinse water
What you need
– 1/2 cup uncooked rice (bio is better)
– 3 cups water
How to make
To make rice water, first rinse the rice with about a cup of water to remove dirt or impurities. Then, throw the water and rince it with new water. Let the rice soak for 15 to 30 minutes. Swirl it around until the water turns cloudy. Then strain out the rice water into a clean bowl and your water is ready to use. You can conserve it in the fridge for 6 days.
Boiled water
You can boil the rice to extract rice water. To do so, you just need to take the exceed water of your cooked rice rather than throwing it.
You can conserve it in the fridge for a week.
Of course I tried it, I do it for a month now and I love it, my hair shine bright like diamonds (poke to RiRi) so enjoy it ! And if you tried it let me know in comment !
Love, Lalla
